India’s Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, recently concluded a impactful two-day visit to London, engaging extensively with key industry figures to strengthen investment and trade cooperation between India and the United Kingdom.

During his visit, Minister Goyal held a series of high-level discussions aimed at fostering deeper economic collaboration. On his first day, he met with various industry leaders to explore fresh opportunities.

A significant interaction was with the Chairperson of Revolut App. Their discussion centered on the immense growth potential within India’s burgeoning fintech sector. They also highlighted the critical role of global partnerships in driving innovation and supporting the expansion of this dynamic industry. The Minister shared on social media, “Met with Chairperson, @RevolutApp. Exchanged views on the immense opportunities in India’s fintech ecosystem and the importance of partnerships with global players to drive innovation and growth.”

Minister Goyal also held a productive meeting with the CEO of De Beers Group ( Business Leader )and his team. Their conversation delved into global trends within the Gems and Jewellery sector, India’s unique opportunities in this industry, the importance of sustainable practices, and future growth prospects for the diamond business.   

Later in the day, the Minister connected with members of the Indian business delegation over dinner. These discussions revolved around the robust growth currently being experienced by Indian industries and explored avenues for enhanced collaboration with the UK for mutual prosperity. In another social media post, the Minister noted, “Interacted with members of the Indian business delegation over dinner. Discussed the robust growth of our industry and avenues for greater collaboration with the UK for mutual prosperity.”   

It’s worth noting that earlier in his London visit, Minister Goyal had also met with the UK’s Secretary of State for Business and Trade to push forward https://blog.shivassets.com/explore-deeper-trade-investment-ties/negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two nations. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson confirmed on April 9th that the FTA talks are being relaunched, with both sides firmly committed to advancing the agreement. They mentioned that seven rounds of talks have already taken place, and both sides are eager to expedite these negotiations towards an early conclusion.
